About the Riding & Racing Club
The Riding & Racing Club at the University of Louisville is a recognized student organization (RSO) and is open to students of all majors!
The Club hosts monthly meetings that feature industry guest speakers, including top Thoroughbred trainers. Members enjoy field trips to Kentucky's most famous racetracks, stables, veterinary and event facilities.
Handicapping seminars are held to teach members how to bet races, such as the one and only Kentucky Derby held in our own backyard at Churchill Downs!
The Riding & Racing Club also offers three competitive riding teams that compete against other colleges and universities in the area.
Racing
The club frequents local racetracks, such as Churchill Downs and Keeneland, to play the ponies.
Members also attend the Keeneland Sales to prospect up and coming racehorses, as well as attend the Kentucky Derby, Breeders' Cup and other big name races. In addition, members attend local racetrack College Scholarship Days..
Philanthropy
The Riding & Racing Club holds an annual philanthropy event benefiting Horses and Hope and breast cancer awareness.

The event welcomes UofL students, faculty and staff to sponsor and decorate a horseshoe (a symbol of good luck), which can then be taken home or donated back to women personally affected by breast cancer.
